Nurse Assistant Training Program

Los Angeles Skills Academy CNA Training: Pomona

What is a CNA?
A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays an essential role in supporting patients with daily activities and basic healthcare needs under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN). CNAs are also commonly known as Nursing Assistants, Patient Care Assistants (PCA), or Nurse’s Aides.
In Pomona, many individuals start their healthcare careers as CNAs, using the experience as a foundation for further advancement to roles such as LVN or RN. Some CNAs are already enrolled in nursing programs, gaining practical experience that enhances their education. Others use the position as a way to explore the nursing field before committing to more advanced career paths.
As a Nurse Assistant, you will provide vital support in healthcare while building valuable skills that remain in high demand. Our comprehensive program, developed with input from industry professionals, caregivers, and educators, is designed to equip you with the necessary skills to begin your career as a CNA.
Certified Nursing Assistant Program:
What is CNA Training?
The CNA training at LA Skills Academy’s Nurse Assistant Training (NAT) program is fully accredited by the California Department of Public Health. It includes 60 hours of theoretical coursework, available both online and in-person, alongside 100 hours of hands-on clinical training at a local Skilled Nursing Facility. With small class sizes led by experienced instructors, students receive individualized attention and practical experience, ensuring they build confidence and competence. The program is structured to be both fast-paced and comprehensive, equipping students with the skills needed to provide compassionate care.
Our Pomona-based program features engaging lectures, instructional videos, role-playing exercises, and hands-on demonstrations of essential tasks like bathing, dressing, and measuring vital signs. In addition to medical skills, students receive career-focused training in resume writing and interview techniques to enhance job readiness. After successfully completing the NAT Program, graduates qualify to take the California Nurse Assistant State Exam and officially become Certified Nurse Assistants (CNAs).
